iwatemo

iwatemo is a new lifestyle brand born from the collaboration between Iwate’s traditional artisanship and the globally recognized design sensibilities of Finland. Its designers include internationally renowned creators Ville Kokkonen and Harri Koskinen. Iwate, known for its craftsmanship—especially Nambu ironware—is home to many small workshops, yet has had few opportunities to share its high level of skill with the world. Wanting to spread the excellence of Iwate's craftsmanship to more people, the creators found inspiration in Finnish design.The northern region of Iwate and the Nordic country of Finland share similar climates and cultural sensibilities: both experience long, snowy winters. In Iwate, craftsmanship developed as off-season work for farmers, while in Finland, beautiful design emerged to enhance daily life.
